Charity Netball – Privacy Policy
Effective date: 10 October 2026
Who we are
The Charity Netball app ("the app") is developed and run by Edd Davis, who is responsible for the information described in this policy. If you have any questions you can contact us at eddcjdavis@gmail.com.
Information the app does not collect
- No accounts, sign-ups or log-ins for viewers.
- No collection of your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos or location.
- No advertising, and no third-party analytics or tracking tools in the app.
- No payment or donation details. Donations are made on the charity's own website (see below).
Information stored on your device
The app stores a small amount of information on your device only. It is not sent to us.
- Appearance setting: whether you chose light, dark or system mode.
- Scorer access key (tournament scorer only): if the tournament scorer unlocks score entry, their access key is kept in the device's secure storage so they stay signed in. This does not apply to anyone else.
You can remove this information at any time by deleting the app.
Information processed when the app connects to our server
To show fixtures, results and tables, the app requests them from our server, which is hosted on Microsoft Azure in the United Kingdom. As with almost any internet service, the server keeps standard technical logs to keep the service running, secure and free of errors. These can include the time of a request, the information requested, error details and technical network information such as an IP address. We do not use them to identify you, track you or build a profile of you. Logs are kept for a limited period (typically no more than 90 days) and then deleted.
Microsoft processes this information on our behalf as a service provider. You can read more in the Microsoft Privacy Statement.
Names shown in the app
The app publicly shows team names, results, the "player of the match" for each game, and the names of the two umpires for each game, as entered by the tournament organisers. Anyone using the app can tap an umpire's name to see the games they are umpiring, so umpires know where and when they are needed. To make score entry quicker, the tournament scorer may also see a list of netball league player names to choose from. We use this information because the organisers have a legitimate interest in running the tournament and sharing its fixtures and results with players, umpires and supporters.
If you would like your name corrected or removed from the app, email eddcjdavis@gmail.com and we will do so.
Links to other websites
The app links to the Lingen Davies Cancer Support website and to its online donation form. These open in your browser and are run by Lingen Davies Cancer Support (registered charity number 1160922) and its providers, not by us. We do not receive any information you enter on those sites. Please read the charity's own privacy policy before you make a donation.
The app may also open your phone or email app when you tap a phone number or email address.
App store reviews
The app may occasionally ask whether you would like to rate it, using the standard Apple or Google review prompt. This is handled entirely by Apple or Google under their own privacy policies. The app only keeps a note on your device of when it last asked, so that it does not ask too often.
Children
The app is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have rights over your personal information, including the right to ask for a copy of it, to have it corrected or deleted, and to object to how it is used. To use any of these rights, email eddcjdavis@gmail.com.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
Changes to this policy
If the app changes in a way that affects your privacy, we will update this page and change the effective date at the top.
